Wishing one and all a very Merry Christmas if you celebrate, and Happy Holidays if you don't.

Our household is settled and ready -- kind of, sort of.  I should say, we WERE ready and then Christmas Eve plans were thrown into disorder by the hospitalization of my mother-in-law (yes, once again).  Her leg wound is infected, hopefully they can get that under control.  She has poor circulation and heals very slowly due to poor kidney function.  She is understandably upset, but it is what it is.  We have postponed our Christmas Eve family celebration for the day after New Year's.  Many years ago, I spent Christmas in the hospital and I must say it was one of the most miserable times of my life.  I had to have emergency appendectomy the day before Christmas Eve.  My boys were only 6 and 8 at the time, and I spent most of Christmas Eve crying because I couldn't be with them.  I got to go home Christmas Day about 11 am, but I wasn't feeling so great, as you can imagine.  Christmas Eve night I had to spend on the phone with my husband trying to explain to him which stocking stuffers went in which stocking.  Can't recall now if I had the presents labeled or not, what I used to do was pick out two different wrapping papers and use them only for the boys (each boy's presents in one color/pattern).  It was my code as to which present was whose.  I figured that way if they found the presents and peeked, they wouldn't know whose was whose anyway.  But trying to remember my code and where all the presents were hidden in a drug and surgery induced haze wasn't easy.

We leave Christmas night for a week at the coast, unless M-i-L's leg develops complications.  Be safe, be merry, be happy.  Be thankful for all the blessings in your life!  Much love and hugs to you and yours, one and all.
