Laptop Homecoming
Sep. 6th, 2007 06:38 amAccording to the UPS site, my laptop *should* be delivered today. Oh yayness! If it doesn't, I'm up the mighty creek without a paddle because we're leaving at noonish tomorrow for the coast and I *really* *Really* *REALLY* need it. I have a Lawns Power Point demo I need to finish, along with the script and an outline, a Trees Power Point to re-vamp and ... well I was going to say writing, but I can see that just won't happen. Well I can always hope.
It was the perfect time to send in the laptop. Took it to UPS store last Wed. afternoon, then we left on Friday for camping. Came home Monday, unpacked, cleaned the tent trailer, did laundry, vaccuumed, and then yesterday we drove up and back (3+ hours each way) to my aunt's funeral. So I was really only without it one day during the week it's been gone.
Every Labor Day and Memorial Day for the last 15+ years, we've gone camping with the same group of family and friends (well pretty much, there's been some additions and dropouts along the way). We rent a group camp and so we're all alone back there to get as loud and crazy as we like. About 40 of us. The kids have all grown up along the way, but I'm so proud to say that my 2 boys still are going and wouldn't miss it for the world. Along with the 2 holiday weekend trips each year, we'd also go for about 5 days once during the summer. Those were great trips. There was a little stream running through the campground, only a few inches deep, but enough for them to run up and down trying to catch fish and said little stick boats and climb rocks. Do all the outdoor stuff where they can use their imaginations. Good memories, and it must be for them, too, or else they wouldn't be so adamant about not missing a camping trip. Even my youngest, who I thought wouldn't turn into a camper because he hit a stage where he missed his TV and nintendo too much when we went.
Writing? Who me? Next week. I've got a few stories subbed, but I don't seem to be garnering any replies. Maybe it's a good thing as the rejections are pretty quick turnarounds. Can't help but wonder if I'm missing an email though. I really could use a sale. I think my story in the Blood & Devotion anthology might be dead... not my story, but the whole anthology itself. It got pushed back and now I don't see any mention of it on the Fantasist website. Haven't heard anything though. I really hope not!
Grandbaby's here. Time to babysit.
