The laptop arrived yesterday! I was just giving up hope as it hadn't arrived yet, and then my son came to pick up the grandbaby. When I walked him out, he says, oh, you have a package on the porch. Stupid UPS driver just stopped by and left it a-lying on the porch. I know he didn't ring the doorbell because I would have heard it. I wonder how long it was there. Matt may have noticed it when he arrived if it'd been there. Maybe. Oh well it's here. The good news is they didn't re-format it, so all my files and docs are safe and sound. I had a Compaq laptop before this one and it was in for repairs all the time, and no matter what small matter it was, they'd go in and re-format the hard drive. That was frustrating. Toshiba has been great. Except for one small thing. I opened up the box, took out the laptop, fired it up to make sure all the files and programs were there, then set it aside as hubby came home. Later on that night I opened it up again and immediately noticed the Caps Lock key is gone. Missing. Can't figure out if it was gone when I first opened it up and I didn't notice it or if it popped off and is lying on the floor somewhere. I'll search for it this morning. I am NOT sending it back for a week just to get a new key. Hopefully they will just send me one and it just pops back on? If not I'll either figure out how to attach it or hell I'll pay someone for 5 minutes worth of work to put it back on.

The other good news is I pretty much finished what I have to do on the power point presentation and shipped it off to our advisor who will fine tune it. AND she said she'd do the trees one, so I'm off the hook and done for now. So now I have some time to do some writing this weekend after all.

While camping --- and yes, it was great, thank you very much --- I did a lot of reading. The Golden Compass! And I almost finished it. Technically I suppose it's a YA book, but I greatly enjoyed it. I'm not sure if it was a good thing to read it before the movie comes out or not. Usually I'm disappointed in a movie if I've read the book first. Yeah, I really want to write for YA if I ever get around to writing another novel.

Ok, I've been walking now with the same friend for about 17 years or so. First time this has happened: We're walking along and I feel drops of wetness hit my shoulder/upper arm. I'm looking for a sprinkler. I look down at my arm and there a little black thing on it. Looks kinda like a bug. That's weird I'm thinking. But it's not moving. I flick it off and about the same time I realize I have a couple of white droplets/splatters on me.

Yes, that's right. I was shit upon by a bird. While walking. I am happy to report, however, that it was NOT the start to a very bad day. The rest of the day went quite well, so I guess all my bad luck was taken up by bird shat. :-)
