Ok flist, you're going to be so proud of me. I made the switch to DSL. Although speed isn't any different, the reliability is. Of course I haven't done the networking thing yet. The person who took my order got confused and forgot to order the network adapter card for my notebook.... good news is that I'm supposed to get it for free now. It should come in tomorrow or the next day. Right now I had to bring the DSL modem or whatever it is out here to the living room because the desktop is in the baby's room... or the baby is in the computer room I should say. It's working great on my notebook. It's hanging up on the desktop though. I need to call Dell. Unsure if its the computer or the connection, but I can probably say that I've narrowed that down since it's going fine on the notebook. Oh wait I haven't downloaded the Anti-virus software here yet. Better go check it out.
Anyway ... expect cries from me in the process of doing the networking thing. I have no idea what to expect and I've never done it before. Hopefully it'll all go smooth as silk.
I will be saving at least $18 a month though as my wireless connection was $43 and the DSL will be $25 -- more if I do away with AOL completely, although the hubby knows how to work that and I'm not sure I want to try to learn him to do another email program. And it's only $10 a month, might be worth it in the long run. And the wireless modem took a dump yesterday and won't work at all now. So I suppose that's what was wrong with my un-realible connection--it was going bad on me. Oh well, the extra money each month will be nice.
Over and out. No writing news to report.
