I've been flist lurking.  Haven't felt like posting and I don't know why.  Just been chillin' I reckon.

I'm now grandbabysitting full-time again.  Started last Wed.  I watch the 3-month old on Mon., Tues., and Thurs., and have the 3 year old on Tuesdays (so I have both that one day).  And right now, I'm watching the baby on Wed., too.  I'm (finally) off the Master Gardener Board of Directors (for the first time in 10 years!!!!), so I only have one meeting a month now, and we don't meet in July, so I said I could watch him on Wednesdays until August, as she doesn't have a sitter yet for just one day a week (yes, they are tough to come by, everyone wants full-time kids, and especially hard for infants as there are "rules" on how many infants to sitters/daycare providers).  But I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I found I don't have to watch the grandbaby after all (she asked her sister to watch him), so now we're going to be spontaneous and run over to the coast this afternoon.  It was a set of lucky coincidences:  1. Found out the sister was watching the baby today--could she watch him tomorrow, too?  Yes!  Yay! 2. The other couple who we're partners with at the coast rental cancelled out on Friday night, so that gives us til Saturday over there.  Yes!  Yay!  This is especially nice as it's our anniversary tomorrow.  We weren't going to go anywhere (for the first time in 32 years--we always take a trip on our anniversary!) because I was going to have to babysit and we couldn't go to the coast because it was taken.  So yay all around.

I also haven't felt like writing, so I haven't.  I've been working a lot on revising old stories and getting them out, and was up to 8 subs out until I received a rejection from Strange Horizons yesterday.  That story is going back out, I just have to pick out my next victim.  It's a flash, so that makes it a little tougher.

Some interesting discussion about agents considering charging by the hour for services instead of working on commission.  Haven't read enough yet to have an opinion one way or the other yet, except they always say the only way to know if an agent is legit or not is that legit agents don't charge for services, so I can see where that would be hella confusing and a bunch of writers would end up being scammed if it came to be.  I can see their point that they're working for free.  Anyway, check out this post if you haven't see it yet, from the SFWA site

If you don't follow [livejournal.com profile] jaylake , he's just coming off his chemotherapy for metastasized colon cancer.  He's always got insightful things to say about his chemo and the whole process.  Now he's looking on life after chemo and the fear of the return of cancer.  Anyway, in this post:  Forget Roger Daltrey, I hope I get old before I die, he ends with a thought-provoking comment that really resonates with me right now:

So I don't think I'm going to live to be old. I just think I'm going to live. If I get old in the bargain, well, bonus. If not, every day between now and whenever the ride ends is a good day. Somehow.

All about living life to the fullest and trying to enjoy every minute.  Often I get caught up in worry about getting older and worry over story submissions and writing, and really, life is too short to spend it in worry-warting moments.  Breathe, enjoy, savor each moment to its fullest.  That's going to be my motto.
