On vacation and lovin' it
Dec. 29th, 2007 09:45 amI'm at the coast. A nice long vacation. We drove over Christmas afternoon, after booting the kids out the door (BAD MOM!). I had a big guilt attack all day over it until it was time to go and then it disappeared. Son #2 and G/F had gone home for her to sleep anyway, since she works nights. Son #1 and D-i-L and grandbaby were more than happy, I think, to go to their own home and have a family Christmas Day and just relax. So all was well. Weather has been beautiful, sunny and shiny and bright, a little chilly but not too bad, not nearly as cold as home, that's for sure -- until yesterday when it clouded over with a chance of rain (which never came). Today is still cloudy but with sun peeking through here and there, making the water look gray with blotches of iridescence. It's always pretty, no matter the weather.
Tomorrow Son #1, D-i-L and grandbaby come over to spend New Year's Eve with us. We don't plan on staying up at all for it though. We did last year I think, but it was a struggle. This year we won't even try, as grandbaby will go to sleep early and will most likely be up during the night from all the noise and we might as well get as much sleep as we can. We'll have champagne with dinner and toast the coming new year then. I might even indulge in a bit of champagne. Maybe a sip or two. I haven't had even a sip of alcohol since the migraine attacks in Sept. & Oct. And I haven't had a migraine since. So, although I miss my wine-sipping, I certainly do NOT miss the wanting-to-die-squirming-in-bed-all-day-nausea-vomiting-dizzy attacks. Although I admit to being somewhat curious if the attacks were the result of some kind of bug, I don't think I'm curious enough to chance another one.
In the writing news section: I'm finding my passion again I think. I have 3 stories begging to be written, although I haven't done any actual typing yet. In fact, in the stupid-move section of my life, I've copied 5 stories from critters that I would like to crit. But I did upload a story and use an MPC to move it to the upcoming round, so that was my reasoning in that department. It's an older story that's been through the queue before and heavily revised to the point that I wonder if I've cut out all the conflict and character development.
I've been reading!!! YAY! I plan on doing some mini-reviews when I get back home. Not that I'm any good at reviews, but I feel like doing it for some reason. And now I'll shut up, since I really didn't mean to write this long of a post. (Sorry flist!)
