Those of you who are critters and reading this.... please don't feel shy about leaving me a reminder if you've a story up in the queue.  I've been a member there for so long I'm afraid I've gotten too much in a "routine" of which writers I crit.  It's not that I mind critting new people, either .... or people I've never critted before that is.  I dunno, I'm just a creature of habit.  I do try to return crits from people who've critted my stories, but sometimes I forget who's done me the favor and sometimes it can be a full-time job trying to return the favor to every single critter.  And then some weeks are just busier than others.  So anyway.  I would like to read your stories!  By the way, for those of you who don't know, I post on critters as Pam Davis, although I publish under Pam Wallace ... for now anyway.  I'm still in flux as to whether to use a pseudonym to publish under or not.  Right now it really doesn't matter as far as my huge amount of publishing credits go.  heheh.

I've a horror story that I really like.  But it's been rejected about 7 times now.  Usually with comments regarding the pacing in the middle.  And I think it needs an entire re-write.  But it's been through critters either once or twice, which resulted in many revisions, and then I think I've done a couple of major revisions after editor comments, with the result that I've completely lose any sense of distance from the story and how to fix it.  I'm thinking that I should go back to my original storyline (which it never really changed all that much, just some re-arranging of events) and do a complete re-write from scratch.  I think that may be the only way to look at it from fresh eyes.  I have a bad habit though -- when doing revisions, I usually work from old files, pulling sections of text from here and there -- I think that won't work in this case, though.  But I know I'll be tempted to go look for "just one" sentence that was worded so perfectly ... and from there, it'll be a downhill road to another and another and before I know it, it'll be a mishmash of phrases taken from here and there and I'll lose perspective again.  So....

NO COPYING FROM OLD FILES IN THIS CASE!!!!

That's my little reminder.  Now to find the time to actually attempt it.  I've got probably 5 stories that need some revising before they can be subbed.  And I think I have no subs out there at the moment besides the 2 recent ones, so I needs to get busy and work on those old stories before I let myself get side-tracked with new ones.  My short-term goal, that one.  Next week!

I meant this to be only a short little post.  Me and my rambling.  And would you believe I tend to be quiet and silent in real life?
