Motivation

I am having the hardest time motivating. I'm going to blame it on the sickness downtime I'm coming off of. Energy levels still aren't up and the cough is still not gone. We're in the midst of a whooping cough epidemic out here in CA, and although neither my husband's doctor nor mine seems to "think" we have it, neither one tested us, either. But we both had the antibiotic that they would have given us anyway had we had the whooping cough, so I guess we're ok.
Anywho. I received another rejection, so I am now down to 6 subs. With my down time from being sick and unmotivation, I haven't got any of the stories back out there yet. Two of the 6 subs out are in the red zone. One's expected to be there, as the sub period is longer than normal or than Duotrope's thinks. The other's going on long enough for me to start getting squeamish over. Either it's on hold for consideration (I really do wish this market would let people know when this is happening so we wouldn't be biting our fingernails, toenails, grandbigboy's fingernails, grandbaby toenails, and tearing into our own cuticles in the process, although, now that I think on it, *knowing* one is one hold does, of course, lead to much biting of nails and tearing of hair) -- or the rejection email long ago got lost in the aether. I saw a couple rejections on Duotrope (last time I looked, which was a long time ago) that were older than mine, and I think I glanced at the # of subs pages, too, and mine is not the oldest one at the market, so I'm not going to query yet. But the itch is getting pretty intense.
Ok, move along now. I'm through.
