Chillin' at the coast
May. 29th, 2011 01:01 pmWe've been at the coast since Tues. evening. Just relaxing. And sleeping. I don't know why I sleep so better here. I guess knowing I don't have to get up and do anything. No place I have to be. No schedule. At home, even if I don't have the kids, I don't sleep past 6:30 am (if I make it that late), no matter what time I fall asleep. But here, I wake up about 5:30 or 6 and then go back to sleep to 7:30 or so. That's heaven. Love it.
Saw the cutest piece of driftwood planted with succulents at a garden shop, so the hubby and I went driftwood hunting on the way back from our walk yesterday and found a perfect one -- finally! Yay. Can't wait to get home and plant it. Maybe I'll favor you with a picture when it's done, if it turns out cute, that is.
Going home in the morning. We'll get out of here by 7:30 am, just pack everything up tonight, get up in the morning and throw some clothes on and drive the 2.5 hours home to beat the traffic. Stop at Starbuck's on the way and then shower when we get home. Probably have the kids over for a barbecue. Good thing we decided not to camp this Memorial Day, because we would have gotten cancelled anyway. The campgrounds are still full of snow.
Strange May we're having. It's still cold--only supposed to be upper 60's today. Usually we see a day or two of 100 degrees in May. None this year. I wonder how that bodes for summer? Usually it gets really hot in May and then everyone freaks out that it's going to be a long hot horrible summer, but then it cools off and really isn't so bad. I wonder if this year we'll get one of those awful months where the low is about 88 at night and we break 100 degrees everyday for a month or more. We haven't had one of those for a while. I've probably jinxed us. I can take the heat during the day when it cools off at night, but when you go outside for a breath of fresh air at 11 pm and the heat hits you in the face like you walked into a heat lamp (not a sauna, because we don't have humidity here), then that's hard to take. No relief. Well, what will be, will be.
