Ignoring Duotrope
Jul. 14th, 2010 09:46 amI am concentrating very hard on ignoring Duotrope. I have a story at a market I'd love to have an acceptance. My last submission there went about as long as this current one, and the resulting personal rejection did say it was held for consideration but released in the end. So I'm pretty sure this story must be in the consideration process, too. But the last time I looked on Duotropes, there were several stories that had been rejected after a longer stay than mine. And a LOOOONG list of rejections with no acceptances, so I know the acceptance rate is very small.
So watching Duotropes just gets my hopes up and when my hopes get up they always get smashed in the end, so I'm hoping that this NOT LOOKING will throw some good mojo vibes toward my story and the market. The dam has to break one day, doesn't it? What kind of sacrifice do I have to make to the submission gods to get them to accept one of my poor stories? Besides, of course, writing a kick-ass story. Said story already IS a kick-ass. IMO. ;-D
