Writerly Boots are Made for Walking
Nov. 22nd, 2009 03:14 pmMy writerly boots haven't fit well lately. I've been stumbling around. They seem a bit oversized, and I haven't been able to make much headway. I've been stuck in the Swamp of Whiny and lost in the Desert of No Motivation. Floudering through thigh-high Drifts of Indifference. But I think I'm finding my way free. You know it happens sometimes. You feel lost, overwhelmed, sad, and the natural habitat for such feelings (for me, anyway) is to withdraw and pull back. And sometimes we just need that, and not just for writing matters. I think writing motivation mirrors what's going on in our lives, don't you?
Well, I think I'm still a-stumbling, probably in a one-step-forward-two-steps-back mode, but that's okay. I think I see the way out. Now if I can just stay out of the big pile of you-know-what!
