Embarrassment, thy name is being in too big of a hurry and not checking and then not changing pertinent details in a cover letter submission.

::red-faced and rejected::

On a lighter note, I begin to make some progress on Christmas.  In the process though, I realize that I have not a free moment left until Christmas Eve.  Most of the cookies are baked.  I have persimmon, peanut butter drops with m&m's or pecan halves, snickerdoodles, gingersnaps, and sugar cookies.  I need to roll out one more recipe of sugar cookies, though, and I may need to make another batch of persimmon too.  And then of course there's the decorating of the sugar cookies, which is a big ordeal, because although I'm not artist-y in any shape or form, I am meticulous about my sugar cookie decorating.  Frosty's hat *must* be black, and he must have little sprinkles laid out to make eyes and an orange one for his nose, the Christmas trees have to have a brown base for the trunk and then the rest of the tree green with little round colored sprinkles.  I have my great-niece (10) and 2 great-nephews (6 & 7?) coming on Monday afternoon to decorate their cookies.  I'm not going to bother cleaning the house, it's going to be an even greater disaster area when they're done than it is now, and believe me, it *is* a disaster area.  Well the kitchen is anyway.

The shopping is done and last night I wrapped the grandson's presents and put the others in boxes, so all I have to now is the actual wrapping.  I will be more than a little surprised if there is any dinner-cooking done between now and Christmas.

Scattered light blogging shall commence from here, as I expect will be the case with all of you.  Tomorrow will be full.  Tuesday, hopefully not so much.  Christmas Eve has just opened up.  My mother-in-law is in the hospital.  They're running tests to see if she needs a pacemaker.  We're actually hoping that yes, she does, and that it will take care of her suddenly passing out with no warning (which happened yesterday in Wal-Mart, and hence, the hospital).  I have no idea on the recovery rate of the procedure, or even if she will get to go home Christmas Eve.  We always do Christmas Eve at her house, so it's already been decided that dinner will now be pizza and pumpkin pie (what a combination, eh?).  I volunteered to make the pies so we'd have a little bit of holiday at the meal, even though her cherry cheesecake will be sorely missed.  Christmas will be here with our kids after a short visit to some very good friends who always have an Open House for Christmas.  Then we're off to the coast until after New Year's.  Either Christmas night, if the kids leave early enough, or the next morning.  Blogging will continue then, although not much since I'll be on sloooooow dial-up over there.

Merry Christmas everyone.  May your holiday be blessed with laughter and peace.
