Calling computer geeks
Dec. 6th, 2008 07:02 amOn the chance someone has a clue what's wrong --
I upped my RAM the other day by adding a 1 gig stick to my laptop. I created a restore point before installing. After a minor hitch with the stick itself (it was in a 1 gig package was in reality was only a 500MB stick! And no one else had opened the package before me), it was working fine. Then I did a bad thing and downloaded a trial version of a game, ended up buying the full version. I was playing it for a couple hours yesterday and when I quit, all my desktop icons were HUGE! I thought for a minute I was running in safe mode, but I wasn't. I looked at the screen resolution and went to change it, and I only had the 1024x768 option and that's smaller than what I was running. I went to restore to the other day, and my system said system restore was turned off. And now all my previous restore points are gone. The new RAM seemed to be working fine. I had played the game several times before the long session and nothing seemed to happen.
I'll call Toshiba when I get home, thank god I still have 2 months of warranty left, but I'm rather freaked out. Everything seems fine, things are running a little slow I think. The RAM is still registering, I ran a virus scan and nothing turned up. I'd welcome any ideas to check out. Thanks.
