Torture--thy name is semi-retirement.

and that's all I have to say on that subject.

I have a .... something .... on the side of my face.  I knew it was odd.  Been working at trying to "cure" it for 2 weeks.  Started out like a pimple that won't come to a head... ever have one of those?  And they hurt like hell but you can't resist trying to squirt the yucky white stuff on the mirror anyway.  Which is most likely what lead to my downfall.  But I only did that twice!

Tried using an over-the-counter antibiotic ointment, which has worked well before.  But then the swelling started (around the offending bump) and the redness, and the bump started looking less like a pimple-thing and more like a .... something.  Red and blistery.  So I finally went to the doctor on Saturday cause it just wasn't getting any better.  The doctor walks in and goes:  "Hmmmmm.  Strange."
Not a good feeling.  So I'm on heavy-duty antibiotics and if it's not better in a week I gotta go back for cutting and bleeding and ouching.

So far there's not much change.

Grandbaby was getting fussy.  Grandma was trying to finish cleaning the kitchen counter.  Grandbaby grabbed hold of Grandma's pants leg.  Grandma knows she should fix Grandbaby a bottle and put him to bed.  Just a minute more.  Grandma moves away.  Grandbaby cries, falls over, hits head on open drawer.  Grandbaby screams bloody murder.  Grandma picks him up to find.... BLOOD!
Yep.  Bad enough that it might need stitches, especially since its about an inch above his eyebrow.  Don't want a big ugly scar there.

Ended up being not quite bad enough to need a stitch.  Although the doctor did offer to put one in.  D-i-L said no, lets just go with the butterfly strips.  Thank goodness.  Grandma doesn't think she could have stood for the papoosing baby to keep him still, numbing shots and the stitching and the screaming and crying.  (Went through that with son #2 when he was about the same age, but a worse cut that time.)  Almost got by with "gluing" it together, but they decided not to because it was too close to his eye.

Poor baby.
