First, we did cancel our trip and I am thoroughly bummed out. Mother-in-law has been diagnosed with a sciactic problem and they've decided that so far there's not much to be done for her except pain medications (which she takes way too much of) and some physical therapy to try to get her walking so she can go home. So she's to be sent over today or tomorrow to either a rehab hospital or a convalescent hospital for a round of physical therapy and more extensive evaluations. Apparently there is something going on in her spine in the way of disc involvement, but not enough at this point for the surgeon to recommend surgery.

Second, isn't this the way it always goes? After deciding on Sat. that the internet connection *had* to go and preparing to do it all today, it decided to start working really well again. *really* well. which means I can put off my doing until I'm at frustration level. Except the DSL will save me about $15 a month which ain't nothing to sneeze at. Ok ok. I will.

Third, a story I'm working on revising: Turns out I'm doing a major re-write, not just a revision. I thought I had gone past the percolating stage of thinking the plot through and started on the beginning. Had to re-adjust while more percolating went on and during my major bum-out this weekend I couldn't bear the thought of trying to write, so I read a story I'd started and stalled on some time ago. To my surprise, I really like it. Well, I shouldn't say surprise, I think I stopped because I wasn't sure what the next scene should be and then I lost interest. I don't think I thought the writiing itself sucked. Anyway, I'm jazzed about the story again. A nice reminder that sometimes the story does need to just be set aside for a while.

And fourth and last, I have a reprint up at: teenage.doubleedgedpublishing.com/item.php?sub_id=2492 (no www. in front of the URL, btw, just the http:// )
The story is "All That Glitters", which as an aside, I later learned is a line in the great Led Zeppellin song, "Stairway to Heaven" which was one of my favorites. The story is one of my favorites too, and has been published by Teenage's parent company, Double Edged Publishing on both The Sword Review site and the anthology, Distant Passages Volume 1. So this is the second reprint. Someday, "All That Glitters" will be Chapter 1 in a YA novel. Yeah, someday.
