Finicky cats
May. 8th, 2007 11:09 amI love my cat. He's a gooshy needy thing that just loves being held. But he's so finicky in his sleeping spots. About the time he gets all cozy with one and I get it covered up so he doesn't get cat hair all over whatever spot it is, he changes his mind and avoids said spot like the plague. Why is that? Is it some inborn survival instinct that makes them always want to change the place they sleep to keep predators from knowing where they're at?
So about a month ago, said Cat, Amos, decides the armchair is a wonderful place to sleep. He likes cuddly blankets, so I put one up on the chair so when actual company comes over to sit down in it, I can remove the blankie and the chair is nice and cat-hair free. Amos loves his new cuddly sleeping spot. For a while. Now he won't touch it with one little claw.
Same thing with his nighttime sleeping place, which has always been on my right side somewhere between hip and knee. He's done this every night of his life for the past 11 year. About a year ago or so, all of a sudden, he decided he wanted to sleep by my hubby instead. BAD CHOICE. Hubby tolerates the cat and will even let him sleep on his lap sometimes, but that's about it. Plus hubby is a tosser and turner. Finally got Amos back to his spot keeping my leg warm, but every so often now he'll want to try out hubby again.
Then one day he decided to nap in the chair that's in the corner by my side of the bed. Fine. I cover it with another cuddly blankie. He sleeps there during the day all the day. Another good spot. For a while. Now he won't touch it either.
He's back to sleeping on the back of the couch, or the back of my recliner. But he needs to stop. He had a stroke 3 months ago and although he's mostly recovered, he walks a little crooked still. Last night he fell off the back of the chair. Onto me. I've the gouges on my arm to show where he landed.
Silly cats.
My writing news. One of the subs came back rejected already. Poor little story. No one understands it. It's supposed to be FUNNY, dammit! Or amusing. I guess no one is amused by it but me.
Another story has been on hold for May voting since January. May came. They passed. That sucks. But an invite to submit something else. I may, if I can put a threat on it. No holding stories unless you *TAKE* them. (kidding!.... well only partly. I'd like to do it. But I know I can't.)
