Super 8 is really cute. I enjoyed it a lot. To me, a cross between The Goonies and E.T.
Larry Crowne - We heard on the way home from this movie that it was a bomb at the box office. I really don't understand why. I really enjoyed it. Granted, it wasn't an earth-shaker of a movie, but it was cute and funny. Maybe a little too familiar, but hey, don't we need that sometimes for a comforting movie experience? Sometimes I just want to be entertained, not provoked to thought (although this did have its moments). And what's wrong with that?
Recommended Reading Online:
That Undiscovered Country, by Nancy Fulda -- I see why this story won the Jim Baen Memorial Award. I thought it was so well-written, and I loved the theme of older people being useful. Great science and world-building, and the characters were loveable.
Sightwolf, by Erin Hoffman at Beneath Ceaseless Skies -- I'm rarely disappointed in any of BCS's stories, and this was no exception. Loved the world-building, even though the subject matter is one that would rarely appeal to me in any other story.
It's HOT! But it is July. Depressing knowing that we have another 2+ full months of this heat though. It is supposed to drop below 100 in a couple of days, but I'll believe it when I see it. And it's still going to be close enough to 100 to not matter much.
